On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you NEED a spa day? We could all do with an hour or two of just getting pampered and merely relaxing in uninterrupted bliss. Ah! Sounds a little bit like heaven, doesn’t it? The reality is that spa treatments can be expensive, and right now, you might be feeling the pinch. But do not be dismayed – your body does not have to suffer for much longer. Here are some body treatments you can do at home that can make every day seem like a spa day!
Let’s not underestimate how good our body feels after soaking in a luxurious bath. Turn down the lights and light some candles. Use your favourite LUX body wash– the botanicals range has body washes for glowing skin, rejuvenating, rebalancing and detoxing the body. Pick your favourite one! If you want to go the extra mile, play some soothing and calming music in the background. Just be careful not to fall asleep.
At-home steam facials are way cheaper than a salon or beauty bar would charge. Steam facials are perfect to open your pores and remove build-up that has clogged them. Once your pores are open, you’ll find that your face cream or moisturiser soaks into the skin much better. Simply fill a large bowl with boiling water. Place your face, closing your eyes, above the water and cover your head with a towel. You may add your favourite essential oils to the water if you wish. Keep your head above the water for five-to-ten minutes.
With the number of times we sanitise and wash our hands, it makes sense why they are dry. The more you wash your hands, the drier they get, and if you do not moisturise frequently, you may get painful cracks in your hands. Create your DIY hand treatment by mashing up an avocado, adding a squeeze of lemon juice and a few drops of olive oil. Coat your hands entirely in this mixture and wear plastic gloves to seal your hands. Leave on for about 15 minutes and rinse. Your hands will feel soft and supple and look nourished.
With the weather getting warmer, your feet are more exposed. It’s out with the boots and in with the sandals! Keep your feet looking fresh and hydrated with a weekly foot soak. Fill a bucket with warm water and add a few generous drops of honey and lemon slices. Soak your feet in this solution for 20-30 minutes. You can read a book, paint your nails or watch an episode of your favourite series while your feet soak. Dry your feet, add a foot cream and wear socks. The next day, remove the socks. You now have soft, beautiful feet.
Every day can be a spa day in the comfort of your home. You spend less money and save more money while feeling relaxed afterwards. Now that’s a win-win situation.
